At Midnight I Cried Out to You

A poem on being Born Again

By Anna Hayward

"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord"

Acts 3:19

God saved me in a dramatic and miraculous way, alone in my college room with a Bible, sometime near midnight in Febrary 1985 (see My testimony). This is a poem I wrote about it.

At Midnight I Cried Out to You

At midnight I cried out to you,
And you covered me in weeping.
Words muffled, as through cotton-wool,
Heart breaking and soul aching.

At midnight I cried out to you;
My tears ran like a river.
I held my bloodied hands to you,
With nought to give the Giver.

At midnight I cried out to you;
You consumed my dross with fire.
You poured forgiveness on my head,
And pulled me from the mire.

At midnight I cried out to You;
You drowned my fears in mercy.
You bathed me in Your holy light
And gently then You called me.

At midnight I cried out to You;
You gave me faith to trust You.
Your brought me peace. You calmed the waves.
You taught me how to love You.
